TORONTO- Toronto FC announced the signing of free agent and veteran MLS defender Jason Hernandez on Tuesday.
Jason Hernandez, 33, spent the last two seasons with NYCFC but had his options declined at the end on the 2016 MLS season.
“Jason is a player we have watched for some time. With his experience in the MLS including the playoffs and his familiarity with some of our current players we felt he would be a welcomed addition to our club,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko.
Joining TFC will mean this is Jason’s 13th year in the MLS after spending time at the MetroStars, Chivas USA, San Jose and New York City FC. Hernandez played at San Jose with fellow Reds’ Justin Morrow and Steven Beitashour
The Puerto Rican international will be added to the roster pending his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
