TORONTO, Ont- Newly crowned champions Toronto FC host the Montreal Impact on Sunday afternoon in the final 401 Derby of the season.
The two sides met just about a month ago when Montreal’s playoff hopes looked to be revived with a 5-3 win at BMO Field to end TFC’s unbeaten home run.
The playoff hope lived a short life for the Impact when New York Red Bulls put three past Vancouver to seal their playoff spot and eliminate Montreal.
To rub salt into the wounds for Montreal, Toronto will be handed the Supporters’ Shield trophy before the match to raise in front of their home fans.
Jozy Altidore is one yellow card away from missing the trip to Atlanta next weekend, but his yellow cards will be cleared for playoffs. Other than that, TFC have no injuries or suspensions, just a couple disappointed players with the likes of Altidore and Bradley missing out on the World Cup next year.
Former TFC player Daniel Lovitz is suspended for Montreal while Oyongo is injured and Duvall is questionable.
The big news for TFC is the return of Sebastian Giovinco. The Atomic Ant has 15 goals and six assists this season and will be eager to get into some form going into the playoffs.
The game will kickoff at 5:00pm EST and will be televised on TSN 1 & 4.
